I ve learned my lesson. From a play. Seriously. Today, i was tasked to present a sura from the quran in the Muslim Student Association meeting. I chose surat al-fatiha. I tried to talk about what's special about the sura. I started. Bismillahirrahman arrahim. In the name of Allah, the entirely merciful, the especially merciful. What is merciful anyway? when we say Allah is merciful, meaning we were saying, Allah is gracious, kind,forgiving, benevolent and more and more positive attributes. We are praising him. That is why, next, we recite, all praise is due to Allah, lord of the world. By that, we know, who is Allah, He is the creator of the heaven and the earth. We know he is the most powerful. Next, again we say, the entirely merciful, the especially merciful. Then we say, the master of the day of judgment. Now, we know who is Allah, He is the most merciful. He is the Lord of the entire World. Also, He is whom who owns the day of Judgement.So what? wait? what's the question again? so what? can't you see, He is the most powerful! He is the only who owns all the power.Either in this world or the next, it is all belonged to Him ALONE.Want to know something sweet? Allah tell us that he is the most merciful and again, the most merciful before the even tell us about his authority in the Day of Judgment. he gives us hope before having the fear. That is why we recite next, Only onto He we worship and only onto He we asked for help. i continue until the end of the sura.
Suddenly a question rises. "Allah is merciful? But why are most people will go to hell? Why majority of human will go to hell?why did Allah create the human if he want to just throw them into the hell?" I am just about to try to answer, he continued, reciting some verses from the quran in arabic very fluently. Neither do i know which verse was that nor what is the meaning of it anyway. I admit i am not a hafizdh i dont know much about the Quran.
He explained that verse was about how so many people will go to hell. And what about the people who does not know anything about islam? They dont know that they simply need to worship the one God. Are they will all going to hell? I said, if the people are around us. The one whom to blame is simply us ourselves as a muslim. That is why we need to spread the message about islam.
And he said, but for them, they are right. Even if we say we are the one who is right! So, are they still going to hell? Someone answered, Allah knows best. We are not here to judge. The person continue more, "man, stop telling me you don't know and Allah knows best. "
Now, believe me, more christians will go to heaven. Because they are not a terrorist. While he, the one who sayin that, was a muslim. And he went on. Reciting the other verse about anyone who do good deeds shall enter the heaven. They don't have to be a muslim to do good deeds to enter the heaven. Like me. I believe in Allah but i dont pray. Everything is in the heart. Even if we pray, most probably our prayers will not be counted. So, i dont have to pray. But i believe in Allah. Believe in Allah does not meaning we need to pray. A mukmin does not necessarily need to be a muslim.
And i talked about suratul mukminun. The two first verses. Successful indeed the believers. Those who are humble in their prayer. He seem like dont want to listen. He keep on talk and talk. He said, i believe in Allah i know we need to worship him alone that is why i ask, how about the majority out there who are not a muslim. They worship their god also, so, why cant they go the the heaven? Believe me everything is in the heart. We keep saying we are right. What if they are right and we are actually wrong. so, we told him, that is why we believe in the quran, we believe, this world has its creator. our creator is the one who is perfect.we human are all imperfect. that is why if we confuse ourselves with what people said, we wont get a way out. Fortunately we have the book of words of God. so, we act upon what's there.
Come on, stop talking to me about the quran. Everything about the quran is at the back if my hand. I know everything about the quran. Believe me more christians will go the heaven than the muslims. Allah is fair. Believe me. Now tell me anything that is wrong that is harmful. I said, to kill some one?
He said, but that will make the one who kill to feel happy. Trust me. All the wrong is actually good and what is good is hard.
One person says, okay lets write your questions down and ask the shaykh at the masjid. Hey what for, i dont go to the masjid. I wont go to the masjid. What the shaykh will tell me anyway? What did he know better than me? I dont want to argue with a shaykh at the masjid, i dont want to embarrass them. No, i dont go to the masjid.
Another person tell him to not to say that way. Why must not go to the masjid? And why don't you pray if you say you are a believer? You know what distinguishes muslims with the non muslims? I know. Shalah. Okay i dont perform shalah so what, now i am not a muslim.
Astaghfirullah. Huh. Dont say that way. You know anytime we can die. I know. Even if i die now, i don't care. I am ready. Seriously you are ready. Yes! Dont worry, i am not that special. even if i ask Allah to make me die now, he is not going to listen to me. When the time come, i will go. I am no body for him that he will need to listen to me.
Without i realizing, i am listening with tears. Now i have witnessed it. Now i understand. Why knowledge alone is not enough. He memorizes the whole quran, yet he dare to talk that way. Knowledge can sometimes give you harm. Without you realizing it, you can become arrogant. You dare to say you know everything especially about the quran. I swear to you, no matter who you pick in this world, how good they are about the quran, they will never able to say that they fully understand the quran. Even if you say our messanger did, Muhammad peace to be upon him. He is the one who receive the revealation. indeed. but yet he still dont understand the separate letters. Like alif lam mimm. Why? Because Allah is trying to tell us that we human, our knowledge is limited.
Dont be so arrogant that you want to compare your knowledge with the scholars. Maybe you are right. Maybe. But you can give that claim before you actually go and ask the shaykh. See, the problem is clear. The problem is you think you knows everything. And no one understand it better than you. But i just want to tell you something. You claimed to know everything but yet, when i just ask you to explain just the two verses i showed you in suratul mukminun, you just cant. I am not trying to say i knows better than you. Obviously, i dont memorize the quran like you did.
But i am just trying to tell you, you know but you dont understand. Even the two direct verses, you cant even explain. You simply reject it without prove.
Dear my brother in islam. I love you. I love all my muslim brothers and sisters. If only you let me speak, either let me finish my presentation or to answer your question, i wont feel this regret. But i believe, Allah knows best. He really have his reason for planning our meeting.
I dont know what i can to to help you. But one thing for sure, i know who owns your heart. Allah. The most merciful. And only to him we worship and we seek help. Guide us to the right path. I recite that everyday. Guide US. Me and you and everyone to the right path.
To answer you, how about all the 9 billion people around the world who dont know anything about worshiping one god? Are they all will go to hell? Simply we dont know. But one thing for sure is we know that we who know the truth are obligated to spread the truth. But they call us terrorists. Weyy, forget about what they say.They are all human. Us too.. What we said aren't necessarily right. That is why we believe in the book right. Because the book is if from God, and God can never make mistake.
Ihdinassirothal mustaqeem Allah, Guide us to the straight path the oath whom you grant blessings. not the path of those whom you bestowed your anger and those who had gone astray.
have the intention to make du'a for everyone, each time we read it in prayer and anytime.
Alhamdulillah i get this opportuninty to understand, why we repeat this verses times especially in our Slalah. to make do for us and those who needed. we prayed for everyine. MasyaAllah how nice is Islam. Alhamdulillah
