Positive vibe spreads

Show respect to those who don't deserve it: not as a reflection of their character, but as a reflection of yours. ( Dave Willis )

You do good things, you help people, you hold your dignity, you smile to people, you show good character, you respect people, you hide their fault, you praise people, you motivate people, you be there for them, you do your job excellently,

You thought there's nothing for that?

I bet some time in your life, it turns to be not as good as you wish to. Sometimes you just start to question your very own self. Why are you still doing these? You kept asking, what for? Why wasting time doing good deeds?

You don't see the reward, you don't get any kind of award for that. They don't even say thank you. Or perhaps, not even realize your kindness. Then, why keep doing it?

Yes, because God ask us to.

But of course, as a normal human being, sometimes we just like to question every single thing. Not that we don't believe in what we always hold. But it is just because sometimes doing good take a lot of energy and courage to do it. You don't see why you are still doing it while most people don't even care about it any more these days.

Put your hand on your chest. Say thank God. :)

Yes, you should thank God for this. This is golden. Yes, that thing behind your chest is Golden. Your heart is the greatest asset. Thank God for that.

With out you realizing it, you actually inspire people. Though you don't see it today, believe me, someone actually was looking at you and admire your character. They wish they were kind just like you. They wish they have the courage to do that. They wish they aren't that selfish.

Most people choose not to come upfront to you to tell you the truth, they were just shy or can't stop thinking about being someone like you. They need time.

Even if someone came to you and challenge your standings, speak kindly. Do not give up, but do not yell at them. Use wisdom to fight back. When someone came to you  and express their uncomfortable feelings about the goodness in you, be glad, your character and words actually successfully touches their heart and give impact on them.

Do not get surprised when one day, they come to you again, while you no longer recognizes them anymore, they said thank you. And because of you, they changed. Do not expect flowers and chocolates when doing good deeds. Expect the reward only from Allah, and when the perfect time come for you to know what's the effect of you being nice for all this while, you will find, that is happiness truly about.

Yes, positive vibe spreads, though not as quickly as the negative vibes, it spreads.
It gives impact on people and can be life changing. Have faith in what God asked you to do. Do it sincerely. One day, you'll be more than happy having done this all this while, and you perhaps will question your own self. Why didn't you do more.

Be motivated and Do without complain

I learn to not complain. This semester had been a very tough one for me. A lot of responsibilities and commitment that I need to look after. But, I will never regret this experience.

I am in my sixth semester of college. I am currently taking a lot of higher level classes. Yes, I only take 15 credits this semester. Lesser credits than the credits I took last semester. 15 credits should be easy to handle. But since it is a higher level classes, and doing double major, it is kind of tough. I am currently do not have any formal official job. But I am very active joining clubs and organization.

This semester I am a part of 7 clubs. I am the Vice President for MCC( Multi-Cultural Council), a very active member of MSA (Muslim Student Association), an active member of ISO (International Student Organization), ASO (Asian Student Organization), IB ( International Business) club, HRPC ( Human Relations Programming Committee) and NAACP( National Association of Advancement for Coloured People). Doing my best to attend all of the meeting like every week, really a tough job to do. And when I attend a meeting, I don’t want to just be physically there. I want contribute of at least get something from it.

And I do. Thank God.

Yes, I purposely mention all of the clubs I join. Not at all to impress anyone. I do it because I think that could be a picture of how over-achiever some people might think of me.

I am actually more than happy to have this kind of opportunity. I meet a lot of people everyday. Now, i don’t just see people, but I am actually meet and interact with them. Knowing who I was back then, one might be surprised of how much change i did with my life. Of course, doing those might not easy and obviously not entirely by me. The process is long and hard. Some even thought I had changed from being an introvert, into an extroverted girl.

I personally would doubt that. I am still an introvert. I love spending time alone. Talk to my self and question every step that I am about to take. But why am I spending too much time socializing with people, if that is not something I prefer doing?

If I had a choice, I would selfishly not wasting my time doing what I don’t really interested in. But knowing that life is short and understanding that life is a lot more than just about our own self, investing all of the time I owed just into my own self, is the worst thing I could do.

Being selfish is not an option for me. In my life, I know I need to do something. I don’t need people to realize that, but I know what I want. I remember listening to one of the TEDTalks, it says ‘the same person who love to spend days in a cave until he got the holy revelation, was the exact same person who spend most of his time with humanity, spreading love. Since that day, I know exactly what I want to do. He was Prophet Muhammad, by the way.

We are designed to connect. Yes, indeed. who doesn’t want to have all his time on himself. Of course, if I think only about my own self, i will definitely spend time watching movies, and dramas, sleep, having fun and relax all the time. But something in me forces me to get out there and do something. No, i don’t mean we shouldn’t spend some time entertain ourselves.

Patient, is a fight against yourself.  It took a lot of strength in you to get out from what you wish to do, and really do something to the world. In my case, one of the reason i am doing it is because I want people to witness that they have met a Muslim, a peaceful Muslim, not a terrorist. It is always tempting to change what I really decide on doing. Especially when I heard people complain about their life. I mean, normal people complaining about normal things. Lets not take those people who live in the rural area who don't even have the food to eat. They sure have the right to complain, though most of them choose not to. *dush*

But yeah, I guess, the best lesson I get is to be motivated. Ask myself why I do it, instead of listening to the excuses by most people to not do it. I can be very negative sitting with negative people. they complain about their lives, but well that will force my mind to think that I definitely have a better reason to complain but not. I don't want to complain. and why am I listening to them anyway?
Though I actually sigh a little bit (or a lot) here and there....

Let people speak what they want to speak. But if it conscious or unconsciously affect you in a bad way, have the courage to stand up and leave. with a smile.

The First Step is Always the Hardest

Assalamualaikum,

This two weeks had been very busy for me. I have so many things to write but unfortunately, I really don't have time for it. I have more responsibilities now. As a Muslim, as a human and as a creation in general.

I thought what I have right now is life changing. It is definitely a test from God. In the eyes of people, I am step forward than who I was before. IN the eyes of God, i really hope the same thing, but only Allah knows.

I have made a big decision in my life. This might be an opportunity for me to be a better person, but I can also be something that will make me forget of the real purpose of my entire existence. I would like to remind my very own self. I really want to make sure I am following the right path. Ameen.

I really hope that I continue what I intended to do. This is a big step for me. Being a shy person, but having a responsibility to be more friendly and talkative, really is a challenging thing to me. Obviously I had a choice not to do this, but I know for fact, if i don't take this chance, perhaps I won't get this kind of opportunity anywhere else. but what kind of chance I am talking about?

The chance to lead by example. I had spend my 2 years in College being very active and engaged with Muslim Student Association. With the will of Allah, I get to use my words to explain to people about Islam. My role was kind of focused. I was in Muslim organization, and I talked and spread about Islam.

Now, I am in different organization. Multi-Cultural Council. Though I am still in MSA and will always try to do what I can to help, My role in MCC is bigger. My job description covers more. I work with different people, I plan on different things, I discuss different ideas.

The big challenge is, how do I use this chance to give Dawah ( spread about Islam) that will always be my duty as a Muslim.

Just like most of us know, Action speaks louder than words. This time, I want to take this chance to talk less but show people who Muslims really are. We are not lazy people. We are not violent people. We are not uncivilized people. We are people of ideas, people with skills and people with integrity.

I don't want to prove this to anyone. but I want to see if I can become one. Yes, I risk my own self for this. This can take away my sincerity. But I really want to make sure I am solid. I spread Dawah not just because I am in an organization that needs me to do it. I don't want do it just because people expect that from me.

I want to challenge my own self to test my own self. Am I just gonna blend in with people around me? Challenge my belief that I always fight for. Of course. I need Allah for this.

It's only two weeks and I feel this is hard. trying to talk to people and fight my shell really take a lot of courage to do so. I am not saying I am great that I can do this, but all praise to Allah, things gets better.
It took a lot of guts to actually be in a very diverse group of people. Meeting people is actually hard.

But I know I have my own dream. It is a big dream. I want to make the world a better place, for you and for me and for the entire human race.

All we need is love!

But of course, I am no one to do it all, I know I was born to do something to heal the world. I hate hatred. I love love. Indeed, What I am doing right now seems nothing to most people, but I am glad that I took the courage to do it. It will work! Ameen.

smile at each other
help one another
be there for one another
reach for the brothers.
shelter the sisters
tell people that we love them

I want to work with a group to spread peace. That is Islam about. I want to practice Islam in a broader context. Islam is not just about Muslims. Islam is about God and I have read the Quran and I believe, as a human being, spreading peace is encouraged.

That is what I want to do. I WANT TO LEARN NOT TO BE SELFISH ANYMORE.
I need to understand how much people need love. How much the world needs help. Stop thinking that I am the only living organism in this life.

To be someone who at least contributed something toward a better world.

I don't expect people to see what my dream is. I just want my dream to come true. I don't need people to thank me for that, but I just don't want to regret this if I don't do it.

Yes, this is tough, because that is a big step ( to me). but well, have faith, things will get easier from time to time. Indeed, the help of God is near. The first step is always the hardest. May everything will get better from time to time.

Peace and Blessings!
